Cerca de três meses após lançar o álbum “So Much (for) Stardust”, o Fall Out Boy apresenta mais uma novidade. A banda emo liberou nesta quarta-feira (28) uma versão para “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, do cantor americano Billy Joel, com letras atualizadas cobrindo os últimos 34 anos.

Lançada originalmente em 1989, no álbum “Storm Front”, “We Didn’t Start the Fire” trouxe uma letra que narra 118 eventos históricos e culturais ocorridos desde o nascimento de Billy Joel, em 1949. Richard Nixon, Marilyn Monroe, O Apanhador no Campo de Centeio, Elvis Presley, Disneyland, Sputnik, Malcolm X, estão entre as citações.
Em sua regravação, o Fall Out Boy decidiu atualizar a letra cobrindo eventos e personalidades marcantes entre 1989 a 2023. “Pensei muito nessa música quando era mais jovem”, disse o vocalista e guitarrista Patrick Stump. “Todas essas pessoas e eventos importantes – alguns que desapareceram nas areias do tempo – outros que mudaram o mundo para sempre. Tanta coisa aconteceu no período dos últimos 34 anos – sentimos que uma pequena atualização do sistema pode ser divertida. Espero que gostem da nossa opinião sobre isso.”
