A tradicional revista britânica NME divulgou a sua lista com os 50 melhores álbuns de 2022 e colocou “The Car”, do Arctic Monkeys, em primeiro lugar. A lista que reúne nomes do rock, indie, pop, hip-hop, entre outros estilos, traz ainda no seu top 5 o disco de estreia autointitulado do Wet Leg, “Renaissance”, da cantora Beyoncé, “Skinty Fia”, do Fontaines D.C. e “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”, do rapper Kendrick Lamar.
“The Car” é o sétimo álbum do Arctic Monkeys e foi lançado em outubro deste ano. Nele, o grupo de Alex Turner acentua ainda mais as mudanças sonoras ouvidas no disco anterior, “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino”, de 2018. As música “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball”, “Body Paint” e “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” foram lançadas como singles. A NME classificou o álbum como “obra-prima honesta e de tirar o fôlego que traz a marca da curiosidade ilimitada de seus criadores”.
